Description
:Seminar in European History:
Concert of Europe – In Search of Lost Time
The last two hundred years saw the perfection and frequent failures of a unique model of the international order in Europe. The Concert of Europe, the concept born in 1814, encouraged governments to balance their rivalries and relations, ideological and trade conflicts. After 1945 most Europeans enjoyed unprecedented prosperity and stability. Today, in an emerging new world order, Europeans must relearn their lessons of history.
This seminar examines the special moments in the evolution of the European states system, their relations with one another and with the world around them.
