Overview

This course introduces students to the role of management accounting, as distinct from financial accounting, in the decision‑making process.

Major topics include: the determination of the costs of products and services, cost behaviour, relevant costs, standard costs, budgeting, responsibility accounting and cost allocation. All topics are approached in a management context in order to give the student an appreciation of the value of the various techniques available for the analysis and solution of problems faced by managers.

The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31. These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay. These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

• Should have an MBA or Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in the area of accounting.
• Must demonstrate recent professional experience directly related to the course (including evidence of recently undertaken professional development in Management Accounting).
• Must have teaching experience, preferably in the field of accounting.
• Must have a qualified accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA).

Teaching mode:
The teaching method will be delivered in person. Teaching method might incur changes due to health measures or other reasons.

An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
