EducationalAssistant
Under the direction of the Principal, the Educational Assistant is an integral member of the school team and is responsible for the provision of support to students with exceptional needs within the school. The position involves dealing with confidential information and requires ongoing flexibility and variability.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities.
- Participating in pool programs and academic support.
- Implementing special programs and providing support to deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students.
- Assisting with physiotherapy exercises and stretches.
- Modifying programs and supporting learning for students with learning disabilities or speech/language issues.
- Performing outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties.
- Using educational communication software such as Dragon and Kurzweil.
The successful candidate will possess a community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or an equivalent program, and a minimum of 1–2 years of related experience with school‑aged special‑needs children. Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C and completion of Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training are required. Provide copies of your diploma(s) and/or certificates applicable to the role.

- DSW/CYW or equivalent qualification
- Experience with Autism spectrum disorder
- Knowledge of assistive technology
- Behaviour modification and management experience
- Collaborative problem‑solving skills
- Computer literacy
- Crisis intervention training
- Ability to perform yard duty
- Dependability, strong work ethic, and a flexible team player
- Ability to observe, record, and chart behaviour data
- Assistance with toileting duties
In accordance with the Student Support Personnel's Collective Agreement, only qualified regular part‑time employees are eligible to apply to part‑time term vacancies. Regular full‑time employees are not eligible for term vacancies. Educational Assistants who have already accepted terms for the 2026/2027 school year that end June 25, 2027 are not eligible to apply unless to increase status.
Salary$29.54 – $32.95 per hour. Benefits are included.
