Position OverviewTitle: Educational Assistant (100% Term, 35 hours/week)
Location: Ottawa-Carleton District School Board
ResponsibilitiesThe Educational Assistant, under the direction of the Principal, is an integral member of the school team and is responsible for providing support to students with exceptional needs within the school.
Duties include:
- Supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities
- Participation in pool programs, academic support, and special programs
- Providing support to deaf, hard of hearing, or visually impaired students
- Assisting with physiotherapy exercises and stretches
- Modifying programs and supporting learning for students with learning disabilities or speech/language issues
- Outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and pool duties
- Using the Ontario Curriculum and educational communication software such as Dragon and Kurzweil (assets)
Requirements
- A community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
- Minimum of 1–2 years of related experience with school‑aged special needs children
- Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C (asset)
- Completed Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
- Educational Assistant for the Dual Support Program (Grades 5‑8)

In accordance with the Student Support Personnel's Collective Agreement (O.S.S.T.F. District 25) and Articles 23.04 and 23:07, qualified regular part‑time employees may apply to part‑time term vacancies. Regular full‑time employees are not eligible. Additionally, Educational Assistants who have accepted terms for the 2026/2027 school year ending June 25 2027 are not eligible unless to increase status.
Salary and Benefits$29.54 – $32.95 per hour. Benefits are included.
