DLS 3100:
Classroom Observation and Related Research

Overview of research related to observation in the second language classroom. Exploration of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Application of observation tools, analysis, and reflection based on authentic teaching situations. Links to concepts discussed in courses taken to date.

Requirements:

This course is part of the second language teaching program and is designed to train future second language teachers.

Required qualifications:

- Candidate must possess a doctorate (or be completing a doctorate) in Second Language Education.

- Academic and professional publications in the field of study over the past 5 years.
- Professional experience facilitating online courses and/or as a second language teacher (in Canada and/or abroad).

- Expertise in this field.
- Proven teaching effectiveness at the university level, as evidenced by recent course evaluations or equivalents.

- Experience in training (future) second language teachers is an asset.

The University may consider experience or qualifications equivalent to those set out above.
