Contribute to student success as a Teaching Assistant for ESL 120 at the University of Ottawa. This role involves engaging with students through preparation and contact hours while fostering a task-based learning approach.
The position requires supporting the Academic Development in English course during the Fall 2026 semester. Engage with approximately 25 students to facilitate lessons that include grammar review and vocabulary development. Deliver student-centered, interactive lessons, improve academic vocabulary, and support learning strategies over 130 total work hours.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare lessons based on teacher guidelines
• Facilitate group work for second language learners
• Attend group meetings to report class activities
• Support students in developing study skills
• Foster an inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
• Strong command of the English language
• Previous ESL training and classroom experience
• Ability to explain English grammar and vocabulary
• Familiarity with multimedia teaching tools
• Availability during scheduled class hours
