June 29, 2026 through to October 31, 2026
Current regular employees will be compensated for working days in accordance with their normal effective daily rate of pay.
All others, whether internal or external to the OCDSB, will be paid the 2025/2026 casual rate plus applicable vacation pay.
OverviewApplications are now being accepted for Psychology and Social Work staff interested in providing mental health support to students and families over the summer months. Individual sessions focused on attendance, re‑engagement and transition support will be available as well as opportunities for project work focused on the development of mental health promotion and prevention materials.
The Program is scheduled to run from June 1, 2026 to October 31, 2026. Hours of work are determined by student enrolment and/or project, however you can opt to work less frequently depending on your availability.
Support will be provided virtually by way of the Google Meet platform, by telephone and/or in person, where appropriate, based on the best interest of the student. This work may also include home visits when deemed appropriate and in alignment with school board practices. Further, in person support may be implemented to help assist with the school transition of students with mental health needs.
Extensive knowledge in board policies and procedures related to work in mental health is required.
Assignments of work under the Program will be made by LSS management or delegates.
Support the return to school for identified students with mental health needs requiring personalized support.
Support students and families surrounding attendance and re‑engagement concerns.
Additional projects and initiatives may arise including but not limited to:
- Developing content for professional development days
- Develop parent and student workshops or materials on mental health and addiction related topics i.e. stigma and the power of language, substance use health, etc.
- Work on toolkits for Tragic Event Response, Transition Support & Attendance and Re‑engagement
Psychologists and Social Workers
Current regular 10 month employees will be compensated for working days in accordance with their normal effective daily rate of pay.
All others, whether internal or external to the OCDSB, will be paid their applicable 2025/2026 rate plus vacation pay.
Pay for the work will be compensated for working days through the submission of timesheets, which must be approved by the appropriate supervisor and shall be subject to all necessary and required statutory deductions.
Please Note:
Where employees are active members of OMERS and/or TPP, pension contributions shall continue to be made by and on behalf of employees, subject to the rules and regulations of the relevant plans with respect to eligible service.
No additional benefit contributions will be made by or on behalf of the employees. Union dues and levy will continue to be deducted, per pay.

Existing or previous work experience as a mental health professional working within the Ottawa‑Carleton District School Board will be considered an asset.
