Description:

The successful candidate will teach courses about teaching English as a second language (ESL). All courses will be taught in English. The workload consists of 18 teaching credits (equivalent to six courses) at the undergraduate (Second Language Teaching, SLT) and graduate levels (EDU courses, anglophone sector). Three credits are also attributed to administrative activities in support of student success in the Faculty of Education.

Requirements:

The candidate must:

Hold a doctorate in second language teaching;

Have a record of recent publications in the field of ESL teaching;

Have a strong command of English (production, interaction, and comprehension);

- Be present in the Ottawa-Gatineau region to teach courses in person;

- Be able to teach using different delivery methods (hybrid, online – synchronous and asynchronous);

Possess the necessary skills to teach a variety of courses in the SLT program and/or at the graduate level (anglophone sector) , such as:

DLS
1100/1101 – Introduction to Second Language Teaching (Parts I and II)
DLS 2102 – Speaking and Writing in a Second LanguageEDU 5242 – Trends in Second Language TeachingEDU 5146 – Social and Political Issues in Second Language EducationEDU 7141 – Current Trends in Second Language Education Additional experience considered to be an asset for this position includes:

Teaching ESL/EFL in various Canadian or international school-based contexts;and/or Training ESL instructors for Canadian (TESOL) or international (TEFL) contexts.

The University may consider experience or qualifications deemed equivalent to the above requirements.

Five-year contract with the equivalent of seven courses per academic year (21 credits), with an assessment after three years.
