Position: Instructor Assistant - ALP: 8:30am to 3:15pm, Mon-Thurs, Albert St. EC: TERM

Join The Following Initiative Instructor Assistant - ALP Overview

Under the direction of the LBS Instructor, the LBS Instructor Assistant assists in the provision of instruction and training to adult learners with developmental exceptionalities.

Role And Responsibilities

Assists in the provision of instruction and training to developmentally disabled adult learners. Classes located within OCDSB high school and administrative buildings.

Qualifications

Knowledge and experience working with adults with a developmental disability as well as with experience or knowledge of newcomer to Canada population would be an asset. Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures, Adult Education including Adult Literacy Programs, education environment and Board procedures and operations; organization and time management skills required to prioritize work and juggle multiple tasks and conflicting priorities with short timelines;

interpersonal, and communication skills required to exchange and clarify information; oral communication and listening skills required for understanding and communicating effectively with diverse communities; understand and respond to inquiries using tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with colleagues and students; presentation skills to assist in delivering instruction; maintenance of all relevant certifications.

This knowledge would normally be obtained through completion of a Developmental Services Worker degree or recreation certificate from a recognized community college. Experience with developmentally challenged individuals is essential.

Pay Expectations

$24.73 to $27.72/hour
