Instructor Assistant for Adult Learners

Elevate education as an Instructor Assistant in the ALP at Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. Support adult learners with developmental exceptionalities through hands-on instruction and training while navigating diverse classroom environments.

This role assists the LBS Instructor in delivering meaningful education to developmentally disabled adult learners in OCDSB high school and administrative buildings. A background in working with adults with developmental disabilities and insights into newcomer populations will be beneficial. Candidates should display excellent organizational and communication skills to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and engage with students from diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in instructional delivery to adult learners

• Support the LBS Instructor in training initiatives

• Communicate effectively with students and colleagues

• Organize classroom activities and materials

• Maintain all relevant certifications and training records

Requirements:

• Knowledge of adult education principles and policies

• Experience with developmentally disabled individuals

• Developmental Services Worker degree or equivalent

• Strong time management and organizational skills

• Ability to present information clearly and effectively
