English Instructor for Adult Learners

Become a vital part of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as a LINC Instructor. Deliver English as a Second Language classes to diverse adult learners across various locations.

As an adult education instructor, you will provide ESL instruction to newcomers, refugees, and others whose first language is not English. You will develop tailored lessons that accommodate learners with disabilities while maintaining a respectful classroom environment. This role is key in empowering adult learners to achieve their language goals across OCDSB sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide ESL instruction to adult learners in various settings

• Adapt teaching methods for learners with disabilities

• Create a respectful and cooperative classroom atmosphere

• Maintain current certifications in English instruction

• Follow board policies and procedures in instruction

Requirements:

• TESL Ontario Certification

• Knowledge of adult education and Canadian Language Benchmarks

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under timelines

• Familiarity with relevant board policies and procedures

Engage with adult learners to enhance their English skills and support their integration into the community.
