Educational Assistant at UCDSB

Location: Carleton Place

Support students with exceptional needs as an Educational Assistant with the Upper Canada District School Board. Collaborate with teachers to enhance learning experiences at Carleton Place High and Intermediate Schools.

You will work under the supervision of school leadership and assist both individual and groups of students in meeting their educational goals. This role requires understanding diverse behavioral, communication, and physical needs while maintaining confidentiality. Development of special education programs is a key responsibility, ensuring tailored support for students with unique challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the teacher to implement IEP goals

• Support therapeutic programs with Board and external recommendations

• Administer medication and maintain records as required

• Assist with personal care needs for student safety

• Encourage adaptive technology usage for learning needs

Requirements:

• Secondary school diploma and relevant college certificate

• Knowledge of sign language or behaviour management

• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

• Calm under pressure with a high level of confidentiality

• Experience with special needs students is an asset
