Practicum in Primary​/Junior Division

Engage in hands-on teaching experience with APTPUO for the Fall 2026/Winter 2027 practicum at the University of Ottawa. Observe, reflect, and practice teaching under the mentorship of experienced associate teachers.

This practicum, running from September 1 to April 30, 2027, is tailored for those holding a Master’s degree in education. You will gain valuable insights through ten in-person sessions and two online modules, focusing on the primary and junior divisions. Develop essential teaching skills while receiving feedback and evaluation from your mentor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Observe and practice teaching in primary/junior classrooms

• Collaborate with associate teachers for mentoring

• Provide formative and summative evaluations for candidates

• Reflect on teaching experiences for continual improvement

• Understand and apply the Ontario Curriculum effectively

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in education required

• Teaching qualifications related to Ontario schools

• Recent teaching or administrative experience at primary/junior level

• Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and Ethical Standards

• Competence in second language (passive level)
