Description:
Introduction to the teaching of one of many disciplines at the intermediate and senior divisions. Impact of the particular discipline on the whole learner; individualized instruction; theoretical framework and pedagogical implications; critical examination and interpretation of relevant curriculum guidelines. Development of programs; analysis and application of specific teaching strategies and techniques unique to the discipline. Evaluation procedures and techniques.
- Provide instruction for the PED 3183 course as part of the regular or regular part-time appointment.
- Apply a theoretical framework and pedagogical implications to course delivery and curriculum interpretation.
- Develop course programs and analyze/implement teaching strategies and techniques specific to the discipline.
- Administer and evaluate learner progress using appropriate evaluation procedures and techniques.
- Masters degree in education.
- Qualification in a field related to teaching in schools in Ontario.
- Recent experience in teaching in a school or working in administration of a school board at the Primary Junior level.
- Knowledge of the current Ontario Curriculum and of the Ethical Standards and Standards of Practice of the Ontario College of Teachers.
- The University may consider experience or qualifications equivalent to those set out above.
