We are seeking creative, dynamic, and committed teachers to join our team at Stephen Leacock PS. We are a K-6 French Immersion centre of approximately 500 students located on unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin Territory in North Kanata. Many of our students are multilingual and many of our parents and caregivers have a particular expertise in their field that led the family to Kanata North either from another location in Canada or from an International location.

We have a strong focus on structured literacy in our school both in French and in English and we strive to build a strong foundation in mathematical thinking, processes and procedures. We use the Third Path resource to support our students' social and emotional development and sense of belonging and having adaptable, student centered instruction is critical to our school success plan.

Ideal candidates will support the fulfillment of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board’s (OCDSB) Strategic Plan to enhance the quality of education in the school, and the District, by creating a positive and inclusive school climate, learning and workplace environment. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully, with a human rights and equity perspective, to foster student success, achievement and well-being.

All Occasional Teachers are eligible to apply for Long Term Occasional postings for which they are qualified. If you are fully external to the OCDSB, you may apply to this posting if you have the required qualifications.

• Current elementary occasional teacher applicants, followed by
• Qualified external applicants.

This is a gradual return to work - it will go longer than October 31st but the hours will change as the absent employee returns to full time duties.

Shortlisting:
Prior to releasing the applicant lists - where possible, HR will conduct placements of remaining FSL & EN pool participants from August 10-14. For those assignments not placed HR will shortlist August 17, 2026.

August 17 - August 24.
