Educational Assistant for Special Needs Students

Support exceptional learners at Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as an Educational Assistant. In this 50% term role, you will collaborate with educators to foster student success and well-being.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board seeks a dedicated Educational Assistant for a 50% term position, working 17.5 hours/week.

Your role focuses on aiding students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities while implementing special programs. You will work under the direction of school leadership and engage in various responsibilities, including support for visually impaired and deaf/hard of hearing students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist students with exceptional needs and disabilities

• Implement academic support and special programs

• Participate in pool programs and physiotherapy exercises

• Carry out outside yard duties and lifting tasks

• Modify programs for students with learning disabilities

Requirements:

• Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker

• 1-2 years experience with school-aged special needs children

• Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention

• Valid First Aid certification is an asset

• Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and assistive technology
