The role focuses on developing strategies for indigenization and building relationships among students, faculty, and various stakeholders. You will provide academic and cultural support to Indigenous law students and implement initiatives aligned with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Collaborating with external partners will enhance your involvement in fostering Indigenous legal education.
Key Responsibilities:
• Advise Indigenous law students with cultural responsiveness
• Develop Truth and Reconciliation initiatives in the Common Law Section
• Coordinate engagement programs to enrich student experiences
• Design recruitment strategies for Indigenous candidates
• Plan events promoting Indigenous awareness and community engagement
Requirements:
• JD or master’s degree in law or related fields
• Minimum five years of relevant professional experience
• Extensive knowledge of Indigenous culture and community engagement
• Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
• Bilingualism is required; knowledge of Indigenous languages is an asset
