The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Victoria invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor to commence 1 July 2027.

Teaching Stream faculty at the University of Victoria have a workload of 70% teaching, 20% service, and 10% scholarly activity. Their teaching duties may consist of a combination of classroom teaching, and coordination of 1st or 2nd year courses. Teaching Stream faculty in the Department assume leadership roles in areas such as curriculum development, innovative pedagogy, outreach, or Scholarship of Teaching C Learning.

A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent is required. Successful applicants will demonstrate a passion for teaching and will provide documented evidence of excellence in the delivery of mathematical sciences courses at the first- and second-year level as well as the potential to teach upper-level courses in mathematics or statistics. They will be expected to teach a wide range of courses within the Department and will demonstrate the ability to teach students from a variety of departments and backgrounds.
Additionally, the successful candidate should demonstrate the potential to play a leadership role in education-related activities for mathematics or statistics. The successful candidate will engage in scholarly activity in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or statistics education. Experience in teaching both mathematics and statistics will be considered an asset.
