Description:
Lead the academic component of the Teaching, Immersion & English Refinement (TIER) Program for professors from the Universidad de La Guajira, delivered at the University of Ottawa's Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI).This program integrates targeted English language development (B1-B2 levels) with professional training in English-Medium Instruction (EMI). The instructor will design and deliver engaging sessions on topics such as EMI classroom communication strategies, academic vocabulary, course planning, assessment methods, and adapting instructional materials for multilingual learners.
The role requires close collaboration with a fellow instructor to ensure curriculum coherence and pedagogical alignment, as well as the supervision of a teaching assistant. Responsibilities include preparing and facilitating lessons, creating and evaluating assignments, integrating relevant digital teaching tools, and providing constructive feedback to participants. Instruction will be aligned with the program's objectives to enhance participants' English proficiency and strengthen their capacity to teach effectively in EMI contexts, supporting their professional growth and institutional internationalization goals.

Master's degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline. Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level. Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course.
