Part-Time Educational Assistant - Term Position

Join Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as a part-time Educational Assistant focusing on supporting students with special needs. This role involves 17.5 hours per week dedicated to fostering an inclusive educational environment.

Your position is vital for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities, where flexibility is key. You'll collaborate closely with teaching staff to adjust learning programs while assisting with personal care and behavior management. Knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum and assistive technology will enhance your efficacy in this hands-on role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with teachers to support diverse student needs

• Implement individualized strategies and assistive technology

• Conduct therapeutic and physical exercises for students

• Participate actively in yard duties when required

• Maintain accurate behavior data and documentation

Requirements:

• Diploma in Developmental Services Worker or similar

• 1-2 years' experience with school-aged special needs children

• Valid First Aid/CPR is preferred

• Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or similar

• Experience in behavior management systems
