Training Specialist

If you answered yes, our Chalk River location is hiring a Training Specialist to contribute to impactful training programs that support organizational excellence and employee success.

• Participating in the assessment of training needs using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
• Assisting in developing comprehensive training needs analyses to identify the requirements of a broad range of customers and provide flexible, creative solutions in technical and non-technical training areas.
• Collaborating with the Training Consultant to troubleshoot, identify, and recommend solutions for compliance and regulatory training programs by evaluating performance issues and applying the SAT.
• Assisting with training program evaluations to support the continuous improvement of the organization’s training programs.
• Participating in the planning, organization, and design of training events.
• Assisting the Training Consultant in monitoring assigned training requirements and maintaining training documentation and materials.
• Implementing improvements to training materials and processes to maintain industry standards and ensure training programs are comprehensive and auditable.
• Responding to situations in accordance with established processes to mitigate potential issues.
• Participating in the evaluation and identification of industry best practices and benchmarks.
• Planning, facilitating, and leading team and client meetings, under the guidance of the Training Consultant, using a variety of human performance techniques to resolve training issues that affect organizational effectiveness.
• Performing research on industry benchmarking, operational excellence (OPEX), training standards, and training best practices to support the development of effective client training solutions.
• Assisting with the review of instructor performance and collaboratively recommending improvements to presentation methods and instructional techniques.

• Education
  • A university degree or College diploma in Training and/or Education.
• Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of directly relevant experience in an industrial setting.
  • In the absence of post-secondary education, a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a technical role, working in an industrial environment, and demonstrating the ability to assume the responsibilities described.
  • Experience in facilitation techniques, coaching and training delivery.
  • The following experience would be an asset:
    • Experience in designing and developing technical, practical and classroom or computer-based training (CBT) on systems and equipment in a technical/industrial environment.
    • Experience with facilitation of remote learning using technologies such as Microsoft Teams and Skype.
    • Experience in linking training program designs to business needs and measuring the results.
    • Exposure to needs assessments, training evaluations or feedback analysis.
    • Experience working in an environment with high levels of external regulation.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the development and implementation of technical training, tying learning objectives to performance.
  • Knowledge in the implementation of the full SAT (or equivalent) process.
  • Project management knowledge and skills as it applies to planning and implementing large training projects.
  • Relationship-building skills that enable effective working partnerships with Team members, internal customers, and other professional organizations.
