Ottawa Educational Assistant

Position: Ottawa Educational Assistant - Term Contract
Join the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as a skilled Educational Assistant dedicated to student support. This term position runs 35 hours a week and focuses on students with exceptional needs.

In this role, you will work collaboratively under the Principal's supervision to assist students, particularly those with Autism and developmental disabilities. The successful candidate will bring at least 1-2 years of experience and a diploma in Developmental Services or Child and Youth Work. Responsibilities include modifying programs and implementing behavior management strategies to enhance student learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support for students' individual education plans

• Engage in pool programs and academic support initiatives

• Collaborate with teachers to modify and adapt educational materials

• Maintain safety and supervision outside during yard duties

• Assist with personal care needs, including toileting

Requirements:

• Community college diploma in relevant field

• Experience working with special needs children

• Certification in CPR Level C and First Aid

• Training in behavior management systems

• Strong skills in collaborative problem-solving and computer use
