What is the Bible?

Faculty of Theology

Bi modal, this course is offered in the classroom, in the presence of the professor and student as well as broadcasted in synchronous mode (live) at a specific date and time, but is not recorded. The student must therefore be connected remotely at the given time.

The Bible: book or library, history or story? History of the Jewish people and of the culture in which the Bible was written. The Bible and its content. Interpreting the text. The Jesus event. The influence of the Bible on history and on contemporary culture.

• Hold a Ph.D. in theology with a specialization in biblical studies, exegesis, biblical archaeology, etc.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the most recent research in biblical studies.
• Demonstrate passive proficiency in the second official language.
• Proficiency in Greek and Hebrew will be considered a significant asset.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to diversity, including differences in abilities, gender, and culture, as well as to students’ concerns.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the use of online learning tools.

Please note that Saint-Paul University will prioritize the professors that are already affiliated with the University according to article 14.6 of the part-time professors' collective agreement.
