Support students with exceptional needs as an Educational Assistant at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, using autism expertise and flexible scheduling.
This 50% term assignment provides 17.5 hours weekly, with flexible morning or afternoon hours. Working under the Principal, you will collaborate with teachers and professional staff in regular classroom support. The work includes supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, and speech or language issues. Responsibilities also address special programs, academic support, and assistive technology.
Key Responsibilities:- Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Assist students with developmental and learning disabilities
- Implement special programs and academic support
- Observe, record, and chart behaviour data
- Provide toileting, lifting, feeding, and yard assistance
- Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker or equivalent
- One to two years related school-aged experience
- Autism experience and behaviour modification skills
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, or BMS training
- Assistive technology and computer skills
