Responsibilities
- Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers with the balance of a multi‑discipline team throughout the entire project's development
- Establish client relations and participate in the marketing, design and production meetings regarding electrical systems
- Assume the electrical lead on many projects
- Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance
- Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect and other disciplines
- Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule
- Track the financial aspects of projects and adjust the work effort with the team to ensure completion within the agreed‑upon schedule
- Work with the Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews with corporate management as needed
- Direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed
- Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
- Write and edit electrical specifications; select equipment, electrical systems and devices
- Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs and change orders, incorporating agreed‑upon changes into the project documents
- Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
- Provide construction contract administration as needed
- Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Project Engineers, Electrical Project Coordinators or Electrical CAD Technicians as needed
- Perform other duties as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
- Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE or P.Eng)
- Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems
- Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and electrical design software
- Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
- Data Centre, Semiconductor, Healthcare, Laboratory or Sports facilities experience
- Experience using AI productivity tools to accelerate project work streams, including technical writing, code and specification research, and performance simulation and modelling
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Good organizational skills, confident curiosity, strong analytical judgment
- Ability to rigorously audit, validate, and verify all AI‑generated outputs against core electrical engineering fundamentals and regulations
- Will to relocate to Calgary if selected
