Ciena invites electrical engineering students to apply for a 4-month co-op position focused on hardware design with the Packet-Optical HW Development team, running from September to December 2026. Engage in supporting hardware verification and addressing component obsolescence. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth and contribution within a diverse and innovative team atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review components for qualification against obsolescence

• Develop and execute hardware verification plans

• Debug prototype hardware and field issues

• Modify circuit packs for practical testing

• Work collaboratively on complex design solutions
Requirements:

• Enrollment in an Electrical Engineering program or equivalent

• Familiarity with lab testing equipment preferred

• Understanding of high-speed signaling and transmission lines

• Experience in hardware debugging is a plus

• Knowledge of PCB schematic tools is beneficial
