Senior Hardware Designer - Onsite Position

Location:

Ottawa, ON. Salary Range: $90,300 - $120,400 plus bonus opportunity.

Responsibilities
  • Engineer, design, develop, and test new embedded hardware at the forefront of technology.
  • Support and enhance existing embedded hardware.
  • Apply established development processes and assist in process improvement.
  • Analyze requirements, research and identify solutions, and develop the design.
  • Generate complete and accurate user and design documentation.
  • Provide input to architecture and design reviews.
  • Provide input and evaluation of new technologies and products.
  • Keep current with embedded hardware trends and share knowledge.
  • Contribute to the release of manufacturing technical data packages for products.
  • Participate in maintaining a positive and productive atmosphere within the team.
Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of electronics and engineering principles and application to real‑world use.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, commitment to quality and achieving deadlines.
  • Strong debug and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Results‑oriented team player who leads by example, holds themselves accountable, takes ownership, and champions process improvement initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of board‑level development and hands‑on lab experience (CO‑OP experience is applicable).
  • Experience working with a multi‑disciplined team.
  • Familiar with a product development process.
  • Familiar with hardware test equipment – logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Familiarity with principles of high‑speed digital circuit board design including signal integrity concepts.
  • Experience with design capture tools (preferably Mentor Graphics), requirements capture, analysis, and tracking.
  • Hobby projects with Raspberry Pi and/or Arduino.
  • Familiarity with FPGAs.
  • Passion for following the latest trends in computing.
