This is a rare opportunity for a high performing Geologist to takeover a project in its initial stage and build out a new team. The opportunity is as a Chief Geologist / Geology Manager to bring an old Gold Mine back to life, with the opportunity to build and expand across the region. The ideal candidates will be a geologist with at least 10 to 15 years work experience, with a strong background in exploration, underground mining operations and resource development.
This leadership role includes management of the geology team and contractors as well as helping guide the project Technical Services team in relation to mine design and evaluation of resource models. Oversee target generation, proposed exploration development to test targets, and the required definition drill program to meet the expected resource classification. Work closely with engineering to support the mine designs for the Life of Mine Plan.
Mentor and train geologists in all aspects of resource estimation.
The position is with a mid to large Mining company that is diversified in many different commodities. The management team is aggressive and looking to build out their large portfolio of land into new projects and new regional opportunities. This role is a Hybrid type work role, where most of the work can be done remotely; however there would be travel for 1 week per month to the project site or to one of the corporate offices (Ontario or Manitoba).

- Build the project geology team.
- Oversee a detailed compilation of the Project area where significant amounts of historic data will need to be digitized.
- Develop a systematic target generation approach from the digitizing ffort and other exploration inputs.
- Liaise with the operations geology team and the regional exploration team. Engage for support as required.
- Review and compile geological data to create, update and document geological models, assess risks and guide exploration.
- Oversee mineral resource block model interpolations in compliance with company and legislated resource and reserve reporting standards, including NI 43-101, CIM Standards on Mineral Resources and Reserves, and internal guidelines.
- Provide a detailed description of the methodology used to delineate the tonnes and grade used in the production schedule.
- Build associated budgets for annual submission.
- Provide the cut-off value(s) utilized in each area, orebody, or zone.
- Provide the basis to determine the cut off(s) and provide the Net Processing Return (NPR) formula utilized in the evaluation.
- Support the Mineral Reserves Optimization/Deswik Shape Optimization (MRO/DSO) analysis and how the results are used.
- Evaluate results of all geotechnical and hydrogeological drilling in respect of impacts on mine design.
- Determines procedures from results of geotechnical drilling for managing non-acid generating (NAG) and potentially acid generating (PAG) rock.
- Support Scoping, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility studies.
- Supervises Geologists and Geological Technicians in support of Project requirements.
- Ensures the accuracy of underground block models including the evaluation of mining
- grades and recoveries for underground stoping.
- Works closely with the management of the integrated project team.
- Record and interpret geological information from maps, reports, boreholes, well logs, sample repositories, air photos, satellite imagery, geochemical surveys, and other sources.
- Integrate geologic models with geotechnical evaluation, make recommendations for further scrutiny/testing.
- Evaluate geotechnical model with respect to geologic understanding.
- Make recommendations to management regarding improvements in respect of geological activities.
- Develop and implement diamond drilling schedule to meet ore project schedule requirements.
