The Opportunity – Build the Future with UsJoin WSP’s Ottawa Buildings team as a Structural Engineering Student for the Fall term and gain hands‑on experience working alongside experienced engineers and designers on real projects that shape the communities where we live and work. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully from day one while building a strong foundation for your future career in engineering consulting.
Your ImpactYou will:
- Support the design, modeling, and coordination of structural systems for building projects using industry‑leading tools and software.
- Assist with quantity estimates and construction review activities, including site visits to observe designs in execution.
- Review shop drawings and change orders during construction and help prepare site visit reports.
- Participate in design meetings with project teams, clients, and construction partners.
- Contribute to real project delivery while learning the full lifecycle of structural engineering projects.
- Gain exposure to engineering consulting practices in a collaborative, mentorship‑focused environment.
You bring:
- Enrollment in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of a university program in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related engineering technology discipline.
- A strong interest in buildings, structures, and the construction process.
- Curiosity about engineering consulting and a willingness to learn through hands‑on experience.
- Clear communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Initiative and a collaborative mindset.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Eligibility to obtain Reliability Security Clearance (as required for certain client projects).
- Working‑at‑heights training (considered an asset).
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $24.00 – $32.25 per hour, MB & ON: $22.50 – $30.25 per hour, NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $21.50 – $30.25 per hour.
