Role OverviewHealth Safety and Environment Advisor to support the Health, Safety and Environment Branch (HSE) in promoting best practices and ensuring compliance with HSE standards.
Primary Responsibilities- Advise, promote and coach management and employees on HSE work standards, tools, practices, procedures and regulations.
- Partner with Site/Client to apply and implement the Hazard Prevention Program.
- Assist with hazardous occurrence incident investigations, identifying causes and appropriate measures.
- Participate in the development of the site/clients’ HSE strategy and setting of relevant goals and action plans.
- Work with clients to identify adequate HSE resources (including outsourced training or services) and required PPE for specific tasks.
- Participate in operational and group meetings, town-halls, committees as required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and desire to learn about new clients, policies and programs.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing safety programs in industrial or research environments.
- Fine‑tuned analytical and communication skills.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in science (chemistry, biology, biochemistry, environment), engineering or industrial hygiene. Equivalent training may be considered. - Experience:
Significant (60% of role) experience over the last 3–5 years in providing guidance to management and operations in occupational health, safety and environment; supporting implementation of HSE regulations, conducting risk assessments, audits, inspections, emergency response support and incident investigations.
- OSHA or environmental certification or diploma.
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) certification.
- Experience in the development of HSE programs.
- Collaborate with research centres and corporate branches to promote a proactive HSE culture.
- Engage in diverse HSE challenges across transportation, engineering, life and medical sciences and emerging technologies.
Salary range: $78,167 to $91,895 per annum. Bilingualism Bonus: $800 per year (if language requirements met).

- Technical competencies:
Knowledge of Canada Labour Code Part II, Canadian Environmental Protection Act; ability to interpret legislation, standards, and best practices; ability to synthesize information and provide concise briefings; ability to advise and guide clients. - Behavioural competencies:

2).
