PCB Designer who thrives in a fast‑paced, agile setting.
The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer is responsible for the electrical and mechanical packaging design of printed circuit boards and the generation of manufacturing packages (Assembly/Fabrication Drawings, BOMs, Change Orders, etc.). This role offers hands‑on involvement in design reviews, testing and test automation, and technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
This role is based out of our Ottawa, Ontario hub, and working full‑time on‑site. With an on‑site working schedule (5 days per week), you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate in person and build strong connections with our team.
Who You Are- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in PCB design
- Advanced proficiency with industry‑standard ECAD/DFM tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, CAM
350). Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works would be considered an asset. - Strong understanding of:
- High‑speed design (controlled impedance, differential pairs, length matching)
- Multilayer stack‑ups and HDI technologies
- EMC/EMI mitigation techniques
- Experience with DFM/DFA/DFT best practices
- Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC‑2221, IPC‑7351, IPC‑A‑600/610), IPC certification considered an asset
- Proven experience working with contract manufacturers and PCB fabricators
- Lead PCB layout design for complex, and low‑cost multilayer PCBs (HDI, high‑speed, RF, mixed‑signal)
- Translate electrical schematics into robust, manufacturable PCB layouts
- Define PCB design standards, stack‑ups, and design rules
- Collaborate with ME and EE teams on signal integrity, power integrity, space planning and thermal considerations
- Chair detailed design reviews with key stakeholders
- Conduct and support DFM/DFA reviews with contract manufacturers (EMS)
- Drive design for test (DFT) strategies including boundary scan, and functional test
- Interface with fabrication and assembly vendors to resolve technical issues and optimize yield
- Support prototype builds, incoming inspection, debugging, and root cause analysis
- Maintain documentation including fab drawings, assembly drawings, and release packages
- Leverage AI‑enabled tools and automation to support daily tasks and productivity
- Commitment to continuous learning in digital and AI literacy
- Experience working within a mid‑sized product development organization
- Experience flex PCB design
- Exposure to automated optical inspection (AOI), X‑ray, and test strategies
- Experience supporting global supply chains and vendor qualification
- Knowledge of PCB cost‑reduction initiatives, including material utilization, laminate substitution, and second‑source fabricator onboarding
- Experience with PLM tools such as Agile
- Familiarity with IST (Interconnect Stress Testing) methodology for PCB supplier and material qualification

The anticipated starting salary range for candidates in Ottawa, ON, Canada expressing interest in this position is CAD $80,000 – $100,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as location, technical experience, skills, certifications, etc.
