THE OPPORTUNITY
This position is on our 6:00am - 2:00pm lab shift. In the role of Circuit Delayering Specialist you will be responsible for the careful preparation of de-processed semiconductor device samples, targeting specific layers. You will also operate specialized scanning electron microscope (SEM) systems to capture high-quality image sets of samples to be used for circuit reconstruction. Sample preparation will involve various physical and chemical etching and deposition methods common in semiconductor processing.
Responsibilities will also include sample preparation and analysis necessary to understand the target device structure and create an optimal sample preparation plan appropriate for the target device. As a Circuit Delayering Specialist you will have the opportunity to work to varying degrees across multiple technologies and process nodes.
- Understand and clarify customer requirements to produce quality samples
- Depot samples for projects, and prepare cross‑section samples for projects, as necessary
- Use appropriate chemical or mechanical lab methods to prepare high‑quality planar SEM samples
- Use your knowledge of electron microscopy to operate the SEM imaging systems and optimize the microscope settings to capture high‑quality image sets suitable for circuit reconstruction in the shortest time possible
- Communicate clearly with the Image Processing, Circuit Engineering, and Management teams to ensure sample and image quality needs are met throughout each project
- Produce high‑quality reports on delayering plans before projects begin and to document challenges encountered during project execution
- Evaluate alternative processes and optimize techniques to adapt to new sample technologies
- Work with R&D team to develop and improve sample preparation techniques, methods and recipes
