The Opportunity
As an Electrical Design Technologist , you will join WSP’s Electrical Buildings team , supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across the commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, and transportation sectors. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to technically complex building systems while working alongside experienced engineers and technologists in a collaborative, quality‑driven environment.
Your Impact- Design electrical systems for a wide range of building types and project locations.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary design teams by developing electrical designs, coordinating with engineers and technicians, and supporting client communication.
- Prepare electrical designs for power distribution systems (normal and backup), lighting, fire alarm, and building infrastructure.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with the National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, and other applicable standards.
- Prepare models, drawings, calculations, and specifications using industry‑standard CAD and BIM tools.
- Support construction reviews and contract administration activities.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction, and internal stakeholders.
- Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology.
- 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering consulting for buildings and infrastructure projects.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of building construction practices and electrical building systems.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to obtain PSPC Reliability clearance (required).
- Eligibility to obtain RCMP clearance is considered an asset.
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 – $102,500
MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $70,600 – $97,200
