Water/Wastewater Pipeline Engineer/Project Manager
What You Will Do
GFT is seeking a Water/Wastewater Pipeline Engineer/Project Manager to join our Water team in either Toronto, Mississauga or Ottawa, ON. This role follows a hybrid work model with regular attendance at one of these offices. You will provide technical leadership and support to a team of engineers, overseeing the planning, design, and construction of water distribution, wastewater collection, stormwater systems, and pump/lift stations.
You will prepare construction documents and specifications, manage construction oversight, and administer projects for new construction and rehabilitation.
- Participate in condition assessment evaluations for water, wastewater, and storm system assets, including large diameter pipelines and pump/lift stations.
- Meet established budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment, including project/task scope, schedule, and budget.
- Work directly with clients to identify needs and provide solutions while leading teams in preparing winning proposals and successful presentations.
- Coordinate the execution of projects with other disciplines and the Project/Program Manager.
- Develop small to large design projects from inception to completion.
- Prepare complete construction packages (including all deliverables) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of water/wastewater systems for clients.
- Manage and lead the growth of client relationships.
- Create and manage cost estimates and project schedules, ensuring design tasks are completed within budget and on schedule.
- Lead the preparation of detailed engineering calculations and analyses, and utilize design software to solve complex issues.
- Supervise and support the work of others while mentoring junior engineers and design/drafting technical staff.
- Oversee and participate in people management activities, including hiring, onboarding, staff development, mentoring, and performance management.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field of study.
- 4 years of related experience.
- P.Eng. or pursuing P.Eng.
- Project experience including design and construction of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater systems, and pump/lift stations.
- Project experience with pipeline and pump station design projects.
- Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Experience managing preparation of and reviewing and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Functional experience with MS Office applications.
- Active participation in regional or national professional associations.
The salary range for this position is $85,700.00 - $, dependent upon experience and geographic location.
