Role
Arcadis is seeking a Principal – Ontario Land Surveyor to join our expanding team. In this leadership role, you will guide and provide professional oversight for our Ontario Land Survey division, manage a skilled team of survey technologists and technicians, and collaborate closely with clients and multidisciplinary project leads. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast‑paced environment and enjoy managing diverse, complex projects.
Responsibilities- Provide expert leadership and technical guidance as the lead Ontario Land surveyor, supporting both staff and broader regional initiatives.
- Plan, direct, and oversee the activities of the Geomatics Technical Support Unit, ensuring responsiveness to evolving priorities and project timelines.
- Offer strategic input on the development of Geomatics policies, standards, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Manage projects, including working with clients to establish scope, budget, schedule and safety expectations.
- Oversee projects to ensure they meet contractual requirements while delivering quality deliverables that meet or exceed our clients' expectations.
- Ensure quality assurance procedures are carried out and that field returns, drawings and legal plans meet regulatory requirements.
- Sign and professionally certify legal surveys.
- Work with the Business Unit Lead and Business Unit Director to drive growth in the Ontario market for the Land Surveying Division of Arcadis.
- Be part of the business development process, building relationships, preparing proposals, and exploring new business opportunities emerging from the market.
- Build a strong, cohesive technical team that encourages high‑quality work in an environment that mentors for personal and professional growth.
- Qualified Ontario Land Surveyor, in good standing with the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors, with the ability to sign and professionally certify legal surveys; experience complying with the AOLS Certificate of Authorization.
- Over 8 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated team‑leadership experience.
- Experience exploring and obtaining new business opportunities through professional relationship development, including writing proposals.
- Strong technical skills related to subdivision, condominium, boundary retracements, topographic surveys, and easement mapping, with a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory standards governing land surveying in Ontario.
- Proficiency in using industry‑standard surveying software and equipment, with the ability to integrate emerging technologies (e.g., LiDAR, drones) to enhance survey capabilities and innovation.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Surveying or a related field is advantageous.
The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $175,000.
