Hardware Compliance Specialist, Lead – Onsite Position (Ottawa, ON)
We are looking for a highly motivated hardware compliance specialist who will help us create the latest in embedded systems technology. This role is fully onsite at our Ottawa location.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze EMC/EMI requirements and provide compliance reviews.
- Identify risk and establish internal lab capabilities to de‑risk designs for formal compliance testing.
- Perform de‑risking activities, both internal and at off‑site laboratories.
- Coordinate and witness formal compliance activities at external labs.
- Provide input to design and design reviews to support successful compliance.
- Generate reports to capture tests performed and summarize results.
- Participate in maintaining a positive and productive team atmosphere.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
- 8+ years of compliance experience providing design guidance and hands‑on lab testing for products compliant with industry standards in industrial, military, or aerospace electronic design.
- Hands‑on experience with EMI/C, MIL‑STD‑461, DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑704, MIL‑STD‑1275, and related standards.
- Knowledge of spectrum analyzers, LISN, oscilloscopes, antennas, power supplies, and cable design for EMI/C.
- Strong understanding of grounding, mechanical chassis design, and signal filtering to optimize EMI/EMC performance.
- Experience or familiarity with thermal, vibration, and environmental testing (MIL‑STD‑810, DO‑160).
- Knowledge of EN 61000 and/or CISPR emissions, along with EMI/C to SDIP/TEMPEST.
- Self‑starter with keen interest in learning, a strong sense of responsibility, commitment to quality, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Results‑oriented team player who leads by example and champions process improvements.
Salary Range: $90,300 – $140,000 plus bonus opportunity (location-based guidance; final offer will consider qualifications and market).
