System Integration Intern at Ciena

Ciena is looking for interns for an 8 to 12-month work term, starting September 2026, to support the Optical Platform Systems team. In this role, you will conduct system-level testing with Python, troubleshoot problems, and collaborate with System Architects. Ideal candidates should be pursuing degrees in Electrical or Computer Engineering and have experience with Linux and Python programming.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform system-level testing with Python scripts

• Install optical systems within a lab environment

• Troubleshoot and identify issues during testing

• Collaborate with architects to analyze system behavior

• Conduct validation using optical and electrical equipment

Requirements:

• Actively pursuing a degree in Engineering or Computer Science

• Knowledge of Linux in project or academic settings

• Experience with Python for scripting and automation

• Familiarity with lab testing environments is a plus

• Basic understanding of optical networking concepts
