The Avionics Systems Engineer will perform the following duties:
- Detail design, installation, and integration of avionics equipment to provide customized solutions for a wide variety of aircraft operational requirements.
- Provide expert technical guidance for aircraft systems, modifications, new project proposals, and aircraft in‑service issues.
- Complete analysis, test plans, tests, documentation, and other tasks required for certification approvals.
- Lead and manage a variety of large and small avionics integration projects, provide cost estimates and project schedules; support or lead the avionics and electrical side of multi-disciplinary projects.
Work environment
:
Position is located within Aircraft Services Directorate HQ at the Ottawa International Airport (200 Comet Private). The work is performed in the office supporting modifications, upgrades, maintenance and operations of aircraft located on site. It also supports an aircraft fleet flying from bases across Canada.

- Ability to access aircraft to obtain dimensions and test fit mock‑ups, requiring climbing of scaffolds, ladders, maintenance stands, working on or under aircraft that are on jacks, jigs or slings, and working in confined spaces

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in aeronautical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position. - OROC1

Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position. - EX1

Experience in the design approval and certification of aeronautical products. - EX2

Experience in troubleshooting, including identification, evaluation and rectification of in‑service airworthiness problems. - EX3

Significant experience (≥3 years) in the design, development, integration, testing, or certification of Aircraft Avionics and Electrical Wiring Systems (AWM 523/525/527/529) or Aircraft Parts, Equipment, and Installation (AWM 537/551). - Applied / assessed at a later date
