We’ve opened a role in our Ottawa office for a talented, entrepreneurial Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to work alongside exceptional people in JLR’s Industrial Electrical and Automation group.

Your Role as Instrumentation & Controls Engineer:

Choose your own adventure! Let’s talk about how your skills, experience, goals, and passions can find a home the Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, your role will include:

Prepare and review engineering deliverables for industrial facilities, including: PLC/HMI control system architectures I/O lists and control narratives Loop diagrams and wiring schematics Network architecture drawings Control panel drawings

Specification and wiring design for field instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level, analyzers, etc.)

Design of instrumentation and controls for hazardous classified areas.

Apply and interpret safety standards such as: CSA Z432 / ISO 12100 ISO 13849 / IEC 62061 IEC 61511

Design machine and process safety circuits, including:
Safety PLCs and relays Emergency stops, interlocks, light curtains, and safety scanners Safety instrumented functions

Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)

Provide commissioning support and troubleshooting at client sites

Collaborate on designs with electrical, mechanical, and process teams within JLR.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., CEC, ISA, CSA)

Support proposal development and cost estimates for engineering services

Designing, conducting internal coordination, project management, of Industrial projects, from concept through to completion.

Assisting with the management of workload of technicians and designers to ensure that project deadlines are met, and final deliverables align with client expectations.

Mentoring junior engineers, engineering graduates, and technologists.
