We’ve opened a role in our Ottawa office for a talented, entrepreneurial Instrumentation & Controls Technologist to work alongside exceptional people in JLR’s Industrial Electrical and Automation group.

    Your Role as Instrumentation & Controls Technologist:

    Choose your own adventure! Let’s talk about how your skills, experience, goals, and passions can find a home  the Instrumentation & Controls Technologist, your role will include:

  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) for industrial processes and equipment.
  • Configure and program HMI and SCADA systems (Factory Talk View, iFix, Ignition, etc.), including:
    Operator interface screens and navigation Alarms, events, and historian integration Data logging and trending
  • Implement control strategies (PID loops, sequencing, interlocks, permissives).
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables for industrial facilities, including: PLC/HMI control system architectures I/O lists and control narratives Loop diagrams and wiring schematics Network architecture drawings Control panel drawings
  • Specification and wiring design for field instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level, analyzers, etc.).
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Perform I/O checkout and loop testing.
  • Provide commissioning support and troubleshooting at client sites.
  • Collaborate on designs with electrical, mechanical, and process teams within JLR.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., CEC, ISA, CSA).
