We’ve opened a role in our Ottawa office for a talented, entrepreneurial Instrumentation & Controls Technologist to work alongside exceptional people in JLR’s Industrial Electrical and Automation group.

Your Role as Instrumentation & Controls Technologist:

Choose your own adventure! Let’s talk about how your skills, experience, goals, and passions can find a home the Instrumentation & Controls Technologist, your role will include:

Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) for industrial processes and equipment.

Configure and program HMI and SCADA systems (Factory Talk View, iFix, Ignition, etc.), including:
Operator interface screens and navigation Alarms, events, and historian integration Data logging and trending

Implement control strategies (PID loops, sequencing, interlocks, permissives).

Prepare and review engineering deliverables for industrial facilities, including: PLC/HMI control system architectures I/O lists and control narratives Loop diagrams and wiring schematics Network architecture drawings Control panel drawings

Specification and wiring design for field instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level, analyzers, etc.).

Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).

Perform I/O checkout and loop testing.

Provide commissioning support and troubleshooting at client sites.

Collaborate on designs with electrical, mechanical, and process teams within JLR.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., CEC, ISA, CSA).
