Job Description
Advanced Microsystems Technologies, AMT, is a technology division of Sanmina Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM) responsible for the development of RF, microelectronics, optical components, modules, and integrated systems. AMT provides services from design concept through prototype design and testing, process development, assembly, test innovation, to volume manufacturing, partnering with customers to enable their products throughout the product lifecycle.
AMT works on innovative programs in optical and RF communication, data‑center connectivity, quantum computing, automotive sensing, medical devices, diagnostics, and test & measurement systems.
Job PurposeThe Hardware Engineering Technologist supports the engineering department in lab management, hardware support, process support and design support as applicable.
Nature Of Duties/Responsibilities- Management and organization of engineering lab (e.g., keeping supplies stocked, equipment calibrated, managing lab needs).
- Equipment procurement and maintenance including soldering stations, microscopes, RF equipment (connectors, adapters, cables), mechanical equipment (fasteners, milling supplies, etc.) and electronic test equipment.
- Mechanical support – equipment troubleshooting, tool maintenance, fixture modification, light machining & prototyping.
- Electronics test support – probing, debugging, calibrating systems, documentation.
- Test system support – integration, assembly, and bring‑up.
- Microelectronics – process engineering support.
- Learning operation of systems & machines when support is needed.
- Supports development and implementation of advanced designs spanning a variety of applications and markets.
- Works on issues of limited scope, following standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data for readily available answers.
- May provide services in electrical systems design, analog/digital circuit design, system reliability, packaging, RF, microelectronic and opto‑electronic circuit, module and component design, and/or EM and optical modeling.
- Has authority to make responsible decisions comparable to scope of position.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 3‑year Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent related experience.
- 0–2 years related experience.
- Experience in electronics operational & production environment required.
- Experience with electronics soldering required.
- Experience in basic electronics, electronics testing & debugging considered an asset.
- Experience with CAD tools and/or test automation considered an asset.
- Experience in mechanical prototyping & assembly considered an asset.
- Experience with milling and general metal work considered an asset.
- Experience with lab organization, planning and/or maintenance considered an asset.
- Good English communication skills. Bilingualism is an asset.
- Ability to work alone & unsupervised.
- Problem‑solving abilities.
- Proactive and action‑oriented.
- The compensation range for this position is $55,000 – $75,000 annually.
- This position is for an existing vacancy.
