Optical Verification Technician

Lumentum is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative person to join the R&D Test and Calibration team based in Ottawa, Ontario
.

12‑month term:
July 2026 to June 2027

• Apply your expertise in optics to improve our test & calibration techniques.
• Use test measurement techniques to characterize critical optical parameters.
• Implement automated test code and scripts that improve test coverage and quality of results.
• Apply best practices and contribute to the ongoing improvement of team processes and test execution.
• Analyze and characterize optical, hardware and software failures and report them to relevant designers using our internal process and tools.
• Provide evening and weekend support as required depending on program urgency.

• Desire to succeed and to do things right the first time.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in active optical components.
• Team guidance skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Good understanding of test plans, test execution, and bug reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic understanding of hardware concepts.
• Experience in software development, instrumentation and automation is an asset.
• College student in Photonics, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent.
