Position: FEC Design Scientist Engineer at Ciena

As part of a diverse team at Ciena, you will report to the Senior Director of Optical Engineering. Your skills in design, modeling, coding, and communication theory will drive innovation in coherent transceivers. Collaborate with expert teams to create solutions and enhance existing designs for next-generation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and analyze forward error correction for optical systems

• Collaborate with Modem Signal Processing Team on algorithm implementation

• Solve complex problems in coding theory and statistics

• Create innovative solutions for CMOS implementation

• Model using MATLAB, Python, or C++

Requirements:

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

• 4+ years designing FEC including LDPC and Polar codes

• Proficient in C and C++ programming

• Expertise in digital communications is essential

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
