What you’ll do

As Technical Trainee, you will receive broad training in administrative regulatory and technical areas and will provide the following technical services in support of CNSC regulatory operations:

  • Review technical and regulatory information (i.e. inspections, events, reports, licensee submissions) and begin to assess data, perform calculations and to draft reports as required and with direction
  • Conduct preliminary research as assigned and tabulate results for further review and analysis
  • Observe and participate in inspections
  • Observe evaluations, audits and/or assessments and document findings to add to overall report
  • Review technical reports and/or a variety of regulatory documents and updates predetermined changes
  • Provide support to divisional projects, inspections and initiatives as needed and with direction
  • May attend national and international/scientific meetings and outreach/engagement activities as a learning opportunity
Essential

Qualifications:

Education: Degree in Science or Engineering including but not limited to physics, health physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, mechanical / electrical / chemical or other engineering OR equivalent combination of education and relevant job knowledge as defined in this work description.

Language Requirements: English essential

Knowledge of:

  • The nuclear domain such as research, design, construction, operations and safety
  • Applied science in one or more of the following fields: physics, health physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering or civil engineering
