Job SummaryThe Facility Officer is part of the much larger Corporate Services team responsible for the safe and efficient use of the Service’s assets and facilities. This is a “hands on” job that requires the ability to respond and adapt quickly to various needs all the while providing the highest level of customer service and collaboration with various units and contractors.
Major Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To- Evaluate and analyze the services provided by building systems. Co-ordinate, evaluate and analyze the maintenance performed on building systems. Determine, based on the requests and comments of users and/or in cooperation with the operators and/or suppliers of the maintenance services, the opportunities for improvement and/or the repairs needed to the systems.
- Make recommendations for improving the building systems reliability, performance and longevity.
- Prepare statements of work and cost estimates for projects related to the maintenance, repairs, improvements, upgrade and modifications of building systems. Seek input from the industry, codes, guidelines and standards and/or consultants.
- Participate in the Work Place Health and Safety committee and other facilities related committees.
- Coordinate and manage repairs and/or improvements to systems. Manage service/maintenance contracts required in the operating of regional accommodation. Liaise with the clients, the building operations and the policy centers.
- Initiate, and/or coordinate the preliminary engineering and design studies related to projects on building systems.
- Coordinate Site Access Clearance with Internal Security.
- Manage the activities of the custodians by setting priorities, assigning work and ensuring contract requirements are met.
- Provide assistance to other Corporate Support functions as needed.
- Plan, coordinate and execute Regional office moves, furniture and/or equipment placement; including room set-up for a variety of Regional corporate events. This includes but not limited to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 20 kgs (40lbs), using minimal equipment if required.
- Support and participate using available tools and resources in ongoing budget management activities.
- Undergraduate degree in mechanical, electrical, architecture, civil engineering and two (2) years of experience; or,
- College diploma or certificate in mechanical or electrical engineering or architecture or related domain and four (4) years of experience; or,
- Completion of post secondary studies, college certificate or diploma program, or apprenticeship program, and six (6) years of experience
Education must be obtained from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
Note:
Any higher level of education (Undergraduate) could be recognized as experience.
- Experience working in a facilities management environment. Experience related to commercial, industrial, institutional or office buildings will be considered.
