Lumentum is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Optical Verification Technician (Co-op Student) to join the R&D Design Verification and Characterization (DVaC) team in Switching Business Unit based in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Opportunity...
8-month term:
Sept 2026 to Apr 2027
Pay Range: $24-35/hr
Do you enjoy the trial of problem solving, communicate well with others and act as a team player? If so, consider joining our team of talented software designers and optical engineers. You will have a positive impact on our success by:
- Applying your expertise in optics to improve our test & measurement techniques.
- Applying test measurement techniques to characterize critical optical parameters.
- Implementing automated test code and scripts that improve our test coverage and the quality of our results.
- Applying best practices and contributing to the ongoing improvement of team processes and test execution; and,
- Anaylzing and characterizing optical, hardware and software failures and reporting them to relevant designers using our internal process and tools.
- Desire to succeed and to do things right the first time.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in active optical components.
- Team guidance skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Good understanding of test plans, test execution, and bug reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of hardware concepts.
- Experience in software development, instrumentation and automation is an asset.
- College student in Photonics, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent.
You must be currently registered full-time or part time, in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
Candidates must be eligible to complete a background check as part of the hiring process.
