Senior Engineer in Optical Systems R&D

Huawei Canada seeks a Senior Engineer for its Optical Systems R&D Lab on a 12-month contract. Drive advancements in optical communication technologies through innovative problem-solving.

This position involves developing high-performance models for optoelectronic components and fiber channels. You'll harness your skills in simulation and characterization while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Your contributions will focus on enhancing the performance of optical transmission systems, addressing various technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop advanced models for optical communication systems

• Design simulations for single and multi-mode fibers

• Investigate system impairments through characterization

• Set up test environments for performance testing

• Engage with cross-functional teams to optimize system output

Requirements:

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical or Optical Engineering

• Experience in modeling optoelectronic components

• Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++

• Extensive hands-on experience in optical testing

• Familiarity with DSP technology and machine learning an asset
