Senior Engineer in Optical Systems R&D

Huawei Canada is seeking a Senior Optical Systems Engineer to join its Advanced Optical Technology Lab. Engage in cutting-edge R&D focused on optical network technologies.

In this role, you will leverage your Ph.D. or Master’s in Optical Engineering to develop sophisticated models for high-speed systems. Your expertise in programming and hands-on testing will be vital as you evaluate optical communications performance and improve transceiver designs through collaboration with various engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create advanced models for optoelectronic components

• Simulate fiber model intricacies in optical systems

• Assess system impairments through rigorous investigations

• Build and configure test beds for system performance analysis

• Partner with DSP, ASIC design teams to solve issues

Requirements:

• Doctorate or Master’s in relevant engineering disciplines

• Simulation experience in optical communication technology

• Programming proficiency in Python, C/C++, or Julia

• Hands-on experience in optical system performance characterization

• Understanding of DSP and information theory advantageous
