Job DescriptionAECOM is actively seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for a new full-time position based out of the GTA Ontario. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled Rock Mechanics/Geotechnical Engineer to join our team and will have balanced experience in geotechnical design and site reconnaissance, as well as expertise in geological mapping, rock mechanics, and geotechnical investigations.
Responsibilities:Technical Support
Assist Senior Engineer to carry out on-going and future projects in rock mechanics engineering.
Conduct site reconnaissance and geological mapping with a focus on rock mechanics and rock mass classification systems.
Develop computer-aided geological models, profiles, and cross-sections using tools such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or Leapfrog.
Perform soil and rock excavation and slope stability, and rock fall analyses, and design mitigation measures.
Plan/prepare geotechnical investigations, including in-situ and laboratory testing, and interpret results to define geotechnical design parameters.
Prepare geotechnical design reports, specifications, and technical proposals.
Design rock slope support for open cuts and provide geohazard and terrain hazard assessments.
Design of tunnels in both soft and hard ground TBM and SEM (Sequential Excavation Methods).
Support the design of SOE (support of excavation) systems of shafts and cut and cover tunnels.
Prepare contracts for geotechnical investigations, surveys, and construction works.
Utilize Roc Science Suite, including Roc Fall (2D/3D), Dips, Roc Plane, SWedge, Roc Topple, RSData, RS2, Slide2/3 (or Slope/W), and Plaxis 2D/3D
Work with AutoCAD and ArcGIS for creating ground model
(Preferred) Experience with Leapfrog for 3D geological modeling.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, tunneling, and hydrology experts.
Liaise with contractors, clients, and local authorities to ensure project approvals and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Rock Mechanics, Rock Engineering and 4 years of experience in geotechnical design and numerical analysis.
Proficiency in Roc Science Suite, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
Strong technical writing skills for preparing reports, proposals, and specifications.
Knowledge of geotechnical investigations, rock mechanics, and rock slope stability.
Master’s or PhD in a relevant geotechnical discipline.
Knowledge of geophysical survey methods, hydrogeology, and seismic design.
Experience with geotechnical design for tunnels, hydraulic structures, and terrain hazard assessments.
Working toward or possessing professional registration (P.Eng.).

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $85000 to $120000.
