Photonic Systems Test Technician

Test photonic networking products at Ciena while supporting optical systems, automated laboratory setups, and engineering development activities. This hands-on role focuses on practical testing and troubleshooting.
The Photonic Systems Technician supports Ciena’s Reconfigurable Line System and related photonic products. You will execute optical, electrical, and system-level tests while building, configuring, operating, and maintaining automated test environments. The work supports development, validation, qualification, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities:- Execute optical, electrical, and system-level testing
- Build and configure automated photonic test systems
- Perform field-return triage and basic fault isolation
- Maintain laboratory hardware, inventory, and field-return assets
- Create procedures, test records, and setup documentation
- Diploma in electronics, photonics, telecommunications, or related technology
- Two or more years supporting optical or electronic systems
- Experience building and troubleshooting laboratory test setups
- Familiarity with fiber optic handling and testing practices
- Experience using optical and electronic test equipment
